What CalChoice coverage includes

CaliforniaChoice (CalChoice) is a private health insurance exchange built for California small businesses. Instead of picking one carrier for everyone, you set a fixed monthly contribution and each employee chooses the carrier and plan that fits their doctors and budget. You get one bill, one renewal and one point of contact, and employees get real choice. As an appointed CalChoice broker, we set up and service your group at no extra cost to you.

Good to know: CalChoice is open to California businesses with 1 to 100 employees. Groups of 3 or more need 70% of eligible employees enrolled, the employer must contribute at least 50% toward the lowest-cost medical plan offered, the principal office must be in California with at least 51% of eligible employees living in the state, and active workers’ compensation coverage is required.

Not covered: individual and family plans (see Individual & Family Health / ACA), businesses headquartered outside California, groups over 100 employees, and non-employees such as most independent contractors.

Why CalChoice

The benefits of CaliforniaChoice for your business

CalChoice gives a small business the plan variety usually reserved for large employers, while keeping costs predictable and paperwork simple.

Employees choose

Each employee picks from leading carriers such as Anthem Blue Cross, Kaiser Permanente, Sharp, Sutter Health Plus, UnitedHealthcare and Western Health Advantage, based on their region.

Predictable cost

You set a fixed dollar contribution. Employees who pick a richer plan pay the difference through payroll; your cost stays the same.

One bill, one renewal

Every carrier and benefit lands on a single monthly invoice with one online account and one renewal date.

Complete benefits

Add dental, vision, chiropractic and acupuncture, and life and AD&D through the same enrollment.

12-month rate lock

Rates are guaranteed for the plan year, so there are no mid-year surprises.

Made for small groups

Built for California employers with 1 to 100 employees, including groups as small as one employee plus the owner.

Appointed CalChoice broker: Societies Insurance (in California, DBA Cavlogix Insurance Agency) has an agent appointed with CaliforniaChoice who can handle any CalChoice submission - new group applications, renewals, plan and benefit changes, adding or removing employees, and broker of record changes. Call 800-616-3490 or email quote@societiesinsurance.com.
