What Crop-Hail coverage includes

Crop-hail insurance covers growing crops against hail and fire by the acre, and carriers price it on crop, county, acres and the dollar amount you insure per acre.

  • Hail damage - Loss of yield from hail on standing crops.
  • Fire - Crops destroyed by fire in the field.
  • Per-acre limits - Choose the dollars per acre you want insured.
  • Optional perils - Wind, theft or vandalism endorsements on some crops.
  • MPCI companion - Coordinates with federal multi-peril crop insurance.

Good to know: crop-hail can be bought any time during the season, but coverage usually starts 24 hours after the application is accepted – apply before storms are forecast.

Not covered: drought, disease and low prices, which belong under federal MPCI or revenue protection.
